It was an exciting and joyous period at Confucius Institute, NTU (CI-NTU) in the periods of November 21 & 22, 2011 and December 5 & 6, 2011. More than 60 children spent their meaningful and interesting 2-day holiday camps with us. This 13th Camp is themed “Count and Have Fun with Chinese”, aiming to empower these children with a financial head start through helpful tips and fun Chinese literacy activities.

We have lined up in this 13th experiential Camp various segments and variety of interactive activities. On Day 1, under the facilitation of teachers, children took on a discovery journey of cultural diversity and Chinese Lunar New Year, learnt numeral-related idioms and the evolution of money. The next day, the children got into teams, score their points through ‘Question and Answer’ session, earned their ‘capital’, purchase their materials and then creatively made their own ‘Nian Shou’ muppets, crafted their own abacus, etc.

Throughout this 13th Camp, the children got delighted with the Chinese culture and Lunar New Year whilst learning Chinese. All children had successfully completed the Camp in high spirits, filling the Institute with much cheer and laughter.  As one of the Camp student said, “I have acquired much cultural knowledge and made many new friends!”. It was indeed a fruitful and experiential Chinese learning journey for these children. We definitely hope they will continue to participate in the upcoming Camps.

Young Confucius Cultural Camp is held annually during the school holidays in June and December. We have conducted 13 sessions of this Camp since its inception in 2005. The Camp is specially designed and evolved around the Confucius “Six Arts” – Etiquette, Music, Archery, Charioteering, Academic, Arithmetic” -  for the following 3 age groups:

  • Discovering Confucius Camp 1 (5 to 7 years old)
  • Discovering Confucius Camp 2 (8 to 9 years old)
  • Delighting Confucius Camp (10 to 12 years old)
