This course is specially designed for Chinese teaching centres, in-service primary/secondary Chinese school teachers, Chinese language tutors and general public who is interested in joining Hanyu education as a career.

The purpose of designing this course is to enable participants not only master the skills of using Hanyu as a tool for foreign language teaching, but also employ the most appropriate teaching methodology based on the lesson's objective and students' ability accordingly to provide a systematic learning process.

Learning Outcomes:

The Diploma course equips and develops the participant to:

• Possess a certain level of standard for Mandarin speaking and Chinese language writing skills.
• Possess the drive for career development and able to achieve a level of competence in all undertaken Hanyu educational jobs.
• Possess modern Hanyu knowledge, China literature knowledge and the theoretical knowledge of teaching Hanyu as a foreign language.
• Master linguistic, educational and psychological knowledge.
• Possess the basic skills of teaching Hanyu as a foreign language, including the ability to conduct lessons, prepare teaching materials, assess, test and lastly, select the most appropriate methodology for teaching.
• Possess the sensitivity for across culture interaction, the ability to adapt to different cultures, good interpersonal skills and organizational skills with entrepreneurial spirit.

Module 8: Appreciation and Analysis of Chinese Modern Proses and Poetries
